In my seemingly never-ending drive to become a novelist, I seem to have broken down a wall, finally. After more then ten years of reading "how to" books, taking advice like "keep journals", "write outlines", and "start with character sketches", I did something novel for me. I sat down and just started writing. Since December I've gotten further in this one book than I have in any other before. Granted, there are some gaping holes in the story, but I decided to hog tie and gag my inner editor and just write the story. So, that's what I've been doing, ten minutes here, twenty there, whenever I could find the time. Then the other day, when hubby put the babe in the bath, I found a pair of headphones, plugged them into my computer, blared my music and, in the last 48 hours, have turned out almost 10,000 words. Holy Crap. I have never been that productive. Guess the headphones, apart from damaging my eardrums, help me to block out all else and get me writing. So, stay tuned, we'll see if I really broke the wall down or just had a good moment. Here's hoping! I'm 31, it's high time I start actually working toward the dream instead of just dreaming it!
