| My HOA is going to get an earful from me next Thursday. They sent a letter out saying they're having a meeting to discuss a "one time special assessment fee." The gist is, so many people in the neighborhood haven't been paying their dues (I could've told you that, 6 houses on my side of the neighborhood have been abandoned to foreclosure or foreclosed on already) that the HOA needs to charge those of us that HAVE been paying even more money to keep their crap going. Yeah, I'm carefully planning out how I am going to politely and eloquently tell them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Of course, with everything going on with the government and talk of taxes going up, the cost of healthcare, etc. I think one more "hey, we want your money" letter finally just pushed me to the breaking point. I'm glad the meeting is a week away, it gives me time to formulate an educated and even tempered response to them. Always get a better response when you go in level-headed. And then I'll fix up my house and put it up for sale and be sure to send every member on the HOA board a colorful card informing them of my departure. _________________ "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting 'Holy shit, what a ride!'"

| Never had to deal with any of those organizations, thank goodness. Have heard nightmarish stories from others, though. Keep the HOAs in mind when you buy your next home, ROSE...sounds like you'd do much better without them IMHO! |

| Yeah, Don. When I bought this place I didn't know much about HOAs, just that most neighborhoods around had them and that was it. Now I know better and refuse to ever buy in one again! _________________ "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting 'Holy shit, what a ride!'"

| HOA's suck!! Never again if I can help it. I had a person who regularly let the dog poop and pee on my lawn so I put a 4 inch round sign under my mailbox of a dog with his leg on a hydrant saying NO. Would you believe one year after I move way, they send me a letter to my new neighborhood not even close tho that house telling me I will be fined if I don't take the sign down! Idiots. I told them to tell the homeowners. |

| That kind of idiocy sounds about right, Sunshine, I'm on the HOA board of directors for my Florida house and I spend all my time reigning in the brown shirts who think that having a little political power is akin to personal manifest destiny. I keep reminding them that having a position on the board isn't a term, it's a sentence. Some get it, others get incensed by it. Those are the scary ones. |
